Convert Unix timestamps to dates and back.
Current Unix time
—How to use the timestamp converter
- The Current Unix time ticks at the top; press Use to convert it or Copy to copy it.
- In Timestamp → date, paste a timestamp. Leave Auto-detect unit on, or choose seconds or milliseconds.
- Read the result as ISO 8601, UTC, your local time and a relative time such as "3 hours ago".
- In Date → timestamp, type a date to get its timestamp in seconds and milliseconds.
Example
1700000000 is 2023-11-14T22:13:20Z. The same moment in milliseconds is1700000000000; auto-detect reads it correctly because it has 13 digits. Going the other way,2026-10-27T09:30:00Z is 1793093400.
Frequently asked questions
What is a Unix timestamp?
A Unix timestamp, or epoch time, counts the seconds since 1 January 1970 00:00:00 UTC. JavaScript and many APIs use milliseconds instead. Auto-detect treats values with 12 or more digits as milliseconds.
Which date formats work?
ISO 8601 such as 2026-10-27T09:30:00Z works best. A date without a time zone, such as2026-10-27 09:30, is read in your local time zone.
Does a timestamp depend on my time zone?
No. A timestamp is the same everywhere; only its display as a local date changes with the time zone.
