UUID Generator
Generate random v4 and time-ordered v7 UUIDs.
How to use the UUID generator
- Choose v4 random or v7 time-ordered.
- Set How many (up to 1,000) and whether you want Uppercase letters and Hyphens.
- Press Generate, then Copy all to copy the list, one UUID per line.
Example
A v4 UUID looks like 3f1c9a52-7d4e-4b8a-9c21-5e6f0a7b8c9d: the 4 at the start of the third group is the version. A v7 UUID such as 019a24c1-3e5b-7c2d-8f10-2b3c4d5e6f70 starts with a millisecond timestamp, so UUIDs generated a moment later sort after it. Without hyphens the same value is 32 hex characters.
Frequently asked questions
Should I use v4 or v7?
UUID v4 is 122 bits of randomness and the most widely used version. UUID v7(RFC 9562) sorts in creation order, which keeps database indexes compact, so it is a good choice for primary keys.
Can two generated UUIDs collide?
In practice, no. Both versions use your browser's cryptographically secure random generator (crypto.getRandomValues), and the chance of a duplicate is far smaller than a hardware error.
Are the UUIDs stored anywhere?
No. They are generated in your browser and never sent to a server.
